William H. Fountain
AGE: 68 • The Villages, FL
William H. Fountain, age 68, of The Villages, FL and formerly of Middletown, DE, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 26, 2016.
Born in Wilmington, DE on September 28, 1947, Mr. Fountain was the son of the late Jefferson and Estelle Jane (Edwards) Fountain. He was a proud veteran of the U.S. Navy who served aboard the USS Noris during the Vietnam War. Mr. Fountain later served the citizens of Delaware as a police officer with the New Castle County Police Department from 1969 until his retirement at the rank of Corporal in 1992. He then accepted a position as an officer with DNREC, retiring in 2008 at the rank of Sergeant.
Mr. Fountain and his late wife, Lyndia moved to The Villages, Florida in 2008 and were active members of the First Baptist Church at the Villages. He enjoyed golfing in his leisure time and was a longtime volunteer for Meals on Wheels.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Fountain was preceded in death by his wife, Lyndia A. (Walton) Fountain. He is survived by his sons, Casey Fountain (Kristen) of Middletown and Logan Fountain (Morgan) of Newark; and grandson, Liam Garrett Fountain.
A graveside service will be held at 10 am on Saturday morning, September 3, 2016, at Gracelawn Memorial Park, 2220 N. DuPont Parkway, New Castle, DE.
